  • Identify any questions, for peers the next class or asl the professor.
  • There is not enough time to absorb all the information given in a class.

WHY RECAPTURE NOTES AFTER CLASS?

  • Better than re-copying.
  • Great for kenesthetic learner

HOW TO TAKE YOUR STUDY NOTES?

Cornell methodThe Cornell note taking method helps organize class notes into easily digestible summaries. This method is effective because the main points, details, study cues, and summary are all written in one place.

HOW?

  1. The paper is divided into 3 sections: a 2.5” margin to the left, a 2” summary section on the bottom, and a main 6” in-class note section.
  • Use the main notes section to take notes during class.
  • Use the cues section to review your notes. After class, write down things you’ll need to remember and a prompt for each. You can also use this section for vocabulary words and study questions.
  • In the summary segment at the bottom, write a summary of your notes. This is where you will highlight the main points.

MAPPING METHOD

HOW DO WE TAKE NOTES AFTER CLASS?
  1. Review notes along with the book.
  2. Create your own examples.
  3. Discuss and compare notes with others.
  4. Re-write notes.
  5. Practice those skills you wish to develop.

READING/STUDY SYSTEM (SQ3R)

SQ3R is an abbreviation to help you remember the steps and to make references to it simpler. The symbols stand for the steps followed in using the method: SurveyQuestionReadRecite, and Review.

The SQ3R method is a proven, step-by-step strategic approach to learning and studying from textbooks. Why is it successful? Because it helps you to discover the important facts and ideas that are contained in your textbook, and master and retain that information so that you are prepared for an examination.

  1. SURVEY - reading notes before class. This survey should take no more than 10-25 minutes, even on the longest chapter.
  2. QUESTION (before class) Turn each boldfaced heading into a question by using one of the following words: who, what, where, when, why, or how.
  3. READ - (after class ) read the paragraph for the information. And find the answer for the question that have been formed.
  4. RECITE  -  Recite the answer to each question to yourself. Put the answer into your own words, or rephrase the author's words. Be sure that you can recall the answer, not just recognize the information as correct. Write the questions in your notebook along with a few key words or phrases that summarize the answer.
  5. REVIEW -  look over your answer and the text. And ask what your text mostly about.Recalling the question and try to answer the question again.Recheck it until you gain the answer again.

  • Verbal - I also prefer using words, both in speech and writing.
  • Physical -I prefer using my body, hands and sense of touch to learn and i found that this way is interesting.
  • Logical - I prefer using logic, reasoning and systems.
  • Social - I prefer to learn in groups or with other people because we can help each other in order to achieve our goals.
  • Soltary - I prefer to work alone and use self-study.

My learning style is Visual , Aural , Verbal and Social because i found that this way is much easier for me to learn something new and achieve my goals.

HOW MY LEARNING STYLES WORK. 3EXAMPLE.

There is no other best way to learn. Everyone learns differently, and because of this, the best way to learn is the way you learn. Its on yourself. There are so many types of learning styles but there are 3 main styles that i did and actually works well on me whenever i started to studies. Firstly, Visual. Visual is i  prefer to study using pictures, images, and spatial. This is because i found that its easier for me to visualize information rather than just hearing it. I like to study with pictures, graphs and the list goes on. Its actually works on me whenever i study for examination. Secondly, Auditory learning style is the style that favors listening. I prefer to study using sound and music because it felt calm whenever i turned on the music and started my study. I also prefer to listen the audio to understand certain chapter using you tube. Thirdly, social learning. Social learning styles is learn in a group because in a group we can help each other to improve  ourselves. Form a group between your classmate and study together but some people were not like me who can easily comfort to study in a group because they tend to study alone in a room because the found that its most effective way to study.

  2. You must balance your responsibilities and set priorities. You will face moral and ethical decisions you have never faced before.
